Event Details

This course gives participants a chance to revise structural, visceral and fascial approaches to this important junctional spinal area. The course will involve learning techniques to address lower rib, thoracic and lumbar restrictions and diaphragmatic imbalances.

Delegates will also review how to determine whether to proceed structurally or viscerally/fascially, considering the clinical presentation.

Course leaders, Fiona Walsh & Valeria Ferreira, will demonstrate how these different approaches to treatment to the thoraco lumbar junction can be applied in an integrative manner.

Valeria Ferreira was born in Brazil and is an enthusiastic and committed osteopath and cranial osteopath.  She has completed an MSc in osteopathy (2006) and now works in the clinic at the British School of Osteopathy and leads on the visceral technique elective course.

Fiona Walsh graduated from the British School of Osteopathy (BSO) in 1977, and has since been a senior lecturer in technique and senior clinical tutor teaching osteopathy at the BSO and the Vienna School of Osteopathy. Fiona's experience includes establishing and running a successful private practice in London and within an NHS setting in two large GP training practices.

British School of Osteopathy (BSO)

The British School of Osteopathy (BSO) is the UK’s oldest and largest school of osteopathy. Located at the heart of central London’s cultural and commercial life, the BSO is easily accessible via major transport networks. In 2010, the BSO was shortlisted in the Charity of the Year (income £1m+) category of the Charity Times awards.

Since 2008 the BSO has offered a Master of Osteopathy degree – an integrated undergraduate master’s programme validated by the University of Bedfordshire. The course has recognised qualification status which allows graduates to apply for registration with the General Osteopathic Council, a legal requirement for anyone practicing as an osteopath in the UK.

The BSO also has a pioneering osteopathic research department supporting research at all levels, including undergraduate. It houses one of the best osteopathic libraries in the world, consulted by health care practitioners worldwide.
